Accessibility

Last updated 9 October 2026

We want everyone to be able to plan a trip with Maplia, including people with disabilities. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we have done

  • Every public page, and each screen of the trip planner, was checked with an automated WCAG 2.1 AA test (axe-core) on 9 October 2026, and every problem it found was fixed: no automated failures remain.
  • Text meets the AA contrast ratio, keyboard focus is always visible, form fields are labelled, and content pages have a skip link.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, the 3D map moves the camera without flights, its animals stand still and the page animations are turned off.
  • The plan, the places and the practical information are given as text, so they can be read with a screen reader and enlarged.

Automated tests find many problems but not all of them. A review by people, including with screen readers, is in progress; until it is complete, some controls may not yet work as well as they should.

What is not fully accessible yet

The interactive 3D map is a visual experience and cannot be fully described to screen readers. Everything it shows that matters for your trip (the places, the order of the day, the travel times) is also given as text in the plan.
